Nadi International Airport remains fully operational, with an additional 1.3 million litres of Jet A-1 aviation fuel released into available stock to provide some relief as current fuel supply restrictions continue.
This comes as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka confirmed that the airport is currently facing a jet fuel shortage as a supply-chain issue is affecting availability and is being managed by the fuel suppliers and airlines.
The Ministry Civil Aviation says there are no airport infrastructure, operational or aviation safety issues arising from the fuel supply situation, and the airport continues to operate normally.
They say fuel availability, however, remains restricted and the additional stock should not be interpreted as a return to unrestricted supply.
The Ministry says current restrictions will remain in place pending the arrival of the next fuel shipment, which is expected to replenish stocks and improve supply levels.
They confirm that Fiji Airports is continuing to manage the situation in coordination with aviation industry stakeholders.
The Ministry says a revised Notice to Airmen advises scheduled airlines to liaise directly with the fuel supplier regarding their individual fuel allocations and make arrangements based on available supply.
They say non-scheduled flights are expected to uplift fuel from alternative sources where possible.
The Ministry says since July 2026, Fiji Airports has processed NOTAMs relating to fuel supply restrictions as requests have been received, including NOTAM A0993/26 issued in August.
It says some international airlines have adjusted their flight schedules and fuel uplift arrangements as part of contingency measures while the supply restrictions remain in place.
The Ministry says until the next shipment arrives, available fuel will continue to be distributed on a controlled basis to ensure reserves are managed efficiently and responsibly.
It says Fiji Airports continues to work closely with JUHI, fuel suppliers, airlines and the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji to monitor the situation and minimise disruption to aviation services.
