The Fiji Performing Rights Association (FIPRA) Music Awards is back, scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 9th.

Following a two year hiatus, the return of the FIPRA Music Awards reflects the renewed commitment to recognising and celebrating the talent, creativity and contributions of Fiji’s composers and music creators.

The Association says this year’s awards ceremony will feature 15 categories, including the introduction of a new award for Best Sigidrigi Song.

They say the new category highlights FIPRA’s dedication to recognising diverse musical expressions within Fiji’s music industry.

They say the Best Sigidrigi Song category reinforces FIPRA’s commitment to preserving and promoting the Fijian language, indigenous storytelling traditions and traditional musical expressions.

Members who have released music between 1st January, 2025, and 31st December, 2025, are invited to submit their works for consideration, with all eligible songs released during this period qualifying.

Applications for the 2026 FIPRA Music Awards officially open today and will close on February 27th.

The Association is encouraging strong participation from members nationwide and anticipates an increased number of submissions this year.
