Great news for fans as Extra Bula FC players will be cleared to represent their respective districts in the upcoming 2026 BIC Fiji FACT after completing the mandatory 30-day stand-down period from professional to amateur football.
Fiji Football Association Chief Executive Mohammed Yusuf says players involved in the OFC Pro League campaign will become eligible on June 18th, a day before the BIC Fiji FACT begins in Labasa.
Yusuf says the players can then be re-registered into the COMET system for their respective districts.
He says Rewa-based players will only be allowed to return and play for Rewa and cannot transfer to another district.
The Fiji FA Council approved on January 11th that locally based Bula FC players are not eligible to transfer to other districts during the mid-season transfer window, which opens on June 1st, and must return to their respective districts once the professional league season ends.
The ruling is expected to boost several teams ahead of one of Fiji’s major football tournaments.
Rewa is expected to regain Setareki Hughes, Gabriele Matanisiga, Delon Shankar, Josaia Sela, Ivan Kumar, Asivorosi Rabo and Tahiti United’s Ratu Tevita Waranivalu.
Lautoka is set to welcome back Sterling Vasconcellos, while Ba will strengthen its squad with Nabil Begg and Rahul Naresh.
Labasa will regain Christopher Wasasala and Lekima Gonerau, while Navua will welcome Thomas Dunn and Filipe Baravilala.
Nasinu is also expected to benefit from the return of Maikah Dau.
The 2026 BIC Fiji FACT pool matches will be held from 19th to 21st June, while the semi-finals and final will be held the following weekend at Subrail Park in Labasa.
