Ban lifted on harvesting and trading sea cucumbers temporarily lifted
The ban on harvesting and trading sea cucumbers will be temporarily lifted from today to 31st July, subject to strict conditions under the Offshore Fisheries Management Regulations 2014.

The Ministry of Fisheries says
that the harvesting period of sea cucumbers is permitted from 1st February to 31st May only.

They say the 
following species are strictly prohibited from harvesting or trading at all times, as they are protected under CITES Appendix II: White teat fish (Sucuwalu), Black teat fish (Loaloa), Golden sand fish (Dairokula), Amber fish, Prickly red fish (Sucudrau)
The Ministry states that the approved companies are granted a two-month period (1 June to 31 July 2026) to clean, process, and export beche-de-mer.

All processing and export activities must be conducted at an
approved HACCP-certified facility.They say no exports will be permitted after 31st July.
