A memorandum of understanding was signed between Westpac Fiji and the Ministry of Social Welfare, Women and Poverty Alleviation to help women in micro-entrepreneurs to gain financial education and business skills.
While signing the MOU Westpac Fiji’s General Manager Adrian Hughes says the main objective is to help educate Women in micro-entrepreneurs to manage money in a way that they are able to open bank accounts, save money and re-invest in their business.
He said Westpac holds free financial literacy programs for women that help them to understand about their finance, how to budget and the importance of saving.He said apart from urban areas, these programs will also be available in rural and maritime areas.
Meanwhile, Minister for Women, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation Dr. Jiko Luveni commended and thanked Westpac Fiji for their support to help empower rural women.
