The Naviti Resort fire is said to have started as a result of some welding works being carried out in the resort’s main building earlier in the day.
Executive director Tammie Tam said the report they received from National Fire Authority revealed that a spark may have most likely ignited with some material causing the fire to spread.
It has also been confirmed that there were some repair works being carried out at the back of the kid’s club area earlier in the day which is where the fire is said to have started from.
Tam added that the insurance company has sent their engineers to do testing of the central building which suffered damages in the fire.
She said following the testing, it will be decided on which parts of the building will be demolished and which parts will remain.
Cost of damages is expected to be known also once tests are completed.
The Naviti Resort’s central building caught fire last Thursday afternoon following which hundreds of tourists had to be evacuated to the neighboring Warwick Resort.
Meanwhile, Naviti Resort is now open and accommodating guests in its new wing area.
