A wedding trip to Fiji turned tragic for a 37 year old woman who lost her life after being involved in a car accident in Rakiraki on Friday.
Ranjeenal Anjila Goundar who resided in New Zealand had come to Fiji for a family wedding in Rakiraki.
Anjila Goundar was the driver of the vehicle which veered off the road at the Malake landing junction in Rakiraki.
She passed away at the Lautoka Hospital yesterday morning
Anjila's husband Vimlesh Kumar told Fijivillage that their two children aged 8 and 5 are in disbelief that their mother will not be returning with them.
He said that they were to return to New Zealand next Saturday after the wedding was over and they had visited their families.
An 8 year old girl who was also a passenger died instantly on Friday.
The 8 year old together with her parents and brother were given a lift by Anjila as they were on their way to Rakiraki hospital and she was on her way to Rakiraki town.
The remaining passengers remain admitted.
Meanwhile the national road death toll currently stands at 6 compared to 3 for the same period last year.
