We should have one person-one vote of equal value with no communal seats.
This is according to Professor Warden Narsey who was speaking at a public seminar on electoral reforms, jointly organised by the Constitution Commission and USP last night.
Narsey said past systems were a nightmare and there is a need for a simple electoral system which ordinary people can understand and also ensures that good people are represented in parliament.
He is also recommending for a system where half of the people in the parliament are elected in the local constituencies.
Professor Narsey said political parties should learn to accept election results when they are declared as in the past there have been allegations of electoral fraud.
