Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad says in today’s meeting, they hope to create a platform for mutual exchange between the Fiji Government and their development partners.

Prof. Prasad highlighted this at the Joint High Level Government Development Partner Round-table meeting held at the Grand Pacific Hotel this morning.

He says this is to ensure alignment of programmes and funding on policy priorities of the Fiji Government, and better coordination of development partner programmes at the whole of Government.

The Deputy Prime Minister says today’s meeting will also serve as an important platform for effective development cooperation supporting Government and development partners contextualize international principles to national level partnerships based on the agreed principles of engagement and partnership that governments made in Busan (2011), Addis Ababa (2015) as well as most recently in Nairobi (2022) set on the theme 'Towards Inclusive and Accelerated Implementation of the 2030 Agenda.’

He says they hope these high-level meetings will be held twice per year to provide a platform for strategic discussions around the Government’s needs and priorities and to enable partner collaboration.

The high-level meetings will be complemented by sectoral coordination meetings and discussions at the technical level as required, drawing on existing and additional sectoral coordination mechanisms.
