Good news for people who faced water cuts in recent days due to the damaged 600mm main line along Princes Road as the Water Authority of Fiji has successfully installed the new fabricated bend, and water supply restoration will begin from this afternoon into tonight.

WAF Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg says they will be carrying out restoration to customers along Rewa Street, Waimanu Road up to Raiwasa, the elevated areas of Gaji, Beddoes, Kanavi, Matanitobua, Boron, Lekutu, Mal Street, Toganivalu up to the Hospital from later this evening to tomorrow morning.

He says the team is now working on the installation of the thrust block, and once the thrust block has been installed, they will then open up the line and recharge the trunk main.

Soderberg says pressure takes time to gradually build, and the team will continue with their flushing work from around six this evening to the early hours of tomorrow morning.

WAF is also grateful to Elisha Engineering Ltd for coming down from Lautoka to fabricate the new bend which they have installed.

Meanwhile, thousands of people living in Tamavua, Samabula, Mead Road, Nabua, Waimanu Road, Walu Bay and Lami faced water cuts when the main line was damaged.

This also caused the 38 schools from Suva to Lami to be without water.
