20 households will now have a safe source of water supply after the Water Authority of Fiji installed Rain Water Harvesting Systems valued at $98,100 in Matamaivere village in Namara, Tailevu.
The project saw the installation of 20 sets of 5,200 litres of water tanks, roof catchments, gutters and down pipes.
WAF Chief Operating Officer Samanmal Ekanayake says a 10,000 litre water tank and guttering was also installed at the Village church and with the assistance of the villagers they were also able to repair a damaged concrete water tank.
The Chief Guest, Roko Tui Tailevu, Iliesa Delasau says the district of Namara has been without proper water supply for more then four to five decades and he thanked the government for their assistance.
The rain water Harvesting project was only supplied to 20 houses in the village as the remaining seven families already have their own water tanks.
