Visitor arrivals continue to increase in the country

Visitor arrivals continue to increase in the country with the total number of visitors in July reaching almost 80,000.

According to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics, the provisional numbers show that visitor arrivals reached a new monthly record of 79 thousand 494 last month, surpassing the previous high of July 2011 which was 72,067.

Visitor arrivals for January to July this year stands at 415,011 people compared to 379,427 for the same period last year.

Total visitors from Australia was 198,051 while 72,870 arrivals were from New Zealand.

Visitors arriving for holiday purposes accounted for 80 percent of total arrivals, 5.9 percent came to visit their friends and relatives, 2.8 percent came for business purposes while 11.3 percent visited Fiji for other reasons.
