US sends Fiji Day message to the people of Fiji

The United States of America says it expresses its firm support for the nation of Fiji as its citizens strive for greater peace and prosperity.

US Secretary of State, John Kerry has sent a message to the people of Fiji on our independence day celebrations on behalf of President Barack Obama and the people of the United States.

Kerry says it is his pleasure to extend America’s warmest congratulations to the people of Fiji as they celebrate the 45th anniversary of Fiji’s independence on October 10th.

John Kerry says the United States commends Fiji for its continued work to strengthen its institutions and create an open, democratic, and prosperous society.

He says the US also recognizes Fiji’s tireless efforts to contribute to global security, highlight the challenges of climate change, and promote environmental protection of our oceans.

Kerry says the United States wishes success to Fiji in the future as we work together to build a vibrant and dynamic community in the Pacific region.
