Kelevi Tokalau is alleged to have caused the death of 22-year-old Saula Sucu in Suva in April 2015

The lawyer of Kelevi Tokalau who is charged with one count manslaughter told the assessors in his closing submission today to be absolutely sure that the accused was the person who punched the deceased.

Tokalau is alleged to have caused the death of 22-year-old Saula Sucu in Suva in April, 2015.

Defense lawyer Neel Shivam said none of the evidence points to the accused.

Shivam told the assessors to ask themselves if Kelevi Tokalau was the person who landed the punch which led to the death of the deceased.

He told the assessors to take into account that Suva was packed with people on the night of 26th April, 2015 as the Coca Cola Games had just finished.

Shivam also told the assessors to consider that the deceased had about three jugs of rum and cola that night.

In his closing submission, State Prosecutor Sekonaia Vodokisolomone referred to CCTV footage which showed the accused near the area where the deceased was standing.

He also referred to statements made by the three main prosecution witnesses who saw the accused punch the deceased.

Saula Sucu was found dead outside a nightclub in Suva on the 26th of April, 2015.

High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo will sum up the case tomorrow.
