Tertiary Education Loan Scheme was the subject of discussion at the Nadi Sangam College today during a public consultation with the Minister for Education Dr Mahendra Reddy.
Parents requested the Minister if students can be told at least a couple weeks before whether they have qualified to get a loan.
Parents told Dr. Reddy that students are told about the decision only a few days before the school begins.
They are saying that they then do not have enough time to prepare for their requirements.
Reddy says the Ministry will discuss the matter with TELS board.
However, parents have acknowledged that the Ministry is continuing with the Scholarship and TELS programs.
