Tavua Water levels recede, but flood alerts continue across Fiji

Water levels in Tavua Town have started to recede as rainfall has eased over the past few hours, but other areas remain flooded and are closed to all traffic.

The Tavua Police confirmed this to Fijivillage News as they continue to monitor water levels this morning.

They say that affected routes include the road leading to Vanuakula Village, Mataniwai Road, and Yaladro Road.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Meteorological Service states that a Flood Alert remains in force for flood-prone areas adjacent to and downstream of all major rivers in Fiji.

A Flash Flood Warning is still in effect for all low-lying, flash flood-prone areas and small streams in the Northern Division. Additionally, a Flash Flood Alert remains in force for all low-lying, flash flood-prone areas and small streams of Viti Levu.

People living downstream of major rivers and in coastal regions face heightened risks of flooding, especially during high tide.

The weather office advises everyone in these vulnerable areas to stay alert, follow weather updates closely, and take necessary precautions to protect their loved ones and property.
