A tangi for Sir Paul Reeves will begin in Auckland today.
Former Governor General of NZ and Chairman of Fiji's Constitution Review Commission in 1997, Sir Paul Reeves died in Auckland after a battle with cancer.
Sir Paul passed away, aged 78 over the weekend and plans are underway for a state funeral.
Thousands are expected to flock to the public Tangi or the Maori way of mourning this afternoon in Auckland.
