Villagers of Naviavia and students of St Paul Primary School in Wailevu West, Cakaudrove will improve their daily living conditions and enhance their learning environment following the donation of solar home units system from the Taipei Trade Office in Fiji, worth US$100,000.
The solar home unit systems, marked with the message “Love from Taiwan,” will provide clean and reliable electricity to about 350 villagers of Naviavia and 80 students of Saint Paul Primary School.
While speaking at the handover ceremony, Taipei Trade Office in Fiji representative Joseph Chow, emphasized the solidarity between Taiwan and Fiji as members of the Blue Pacific Continent, facing common challenges such as climate change, energy insecurity, and environmental vulnerability.
He noted that this donation symbolizes a shared commitment to promoting clean, affordable, and sustainable energy for all Pacific communities.
Chow further commended Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s visionary leadership in advancing renewable energy and reaffirmed Taiwan’s dedication to ongoing cooperation with Fiji to achieve sustainable development goals. He says Taiwan is proud to stand with Fiji and light up not only homes — but hopes.
Receiving the solar home unit systems, Head of Finance and Cooperation Service in the Prime Minister’s Office Moape Rokosuka expressed heartfelt appreciation for Taiwan’s support, noting that the donation will make a tangible difference in the lives of people in remote areas.
He says the Fijian government deeply values this expression of goodwill and looks forward to continued collaboration with Taiwan in the renewable energy space.
