Students continue using fireworks, COMPOL urges public responsibility

Serious concerns have been raised as some secondary school students continue to use fireworks inside buses on their way home after school hours.

The latest incident occurred last Friday around 4.30pm inside a Nasese bus travelling from Suva to Tovata–Makoi.

The students were also seen smoking inside the bus.

The bus driver claims he spoke to police officers at the Suva Market Police Post, who informed him that they would be patrolling the bus stand area.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says the bus driver has the responsibility for the people on the bus.

He further says that police officers cannot be everywhere and urged the public to address issues created by children, as police cannot supervise every situation.

The Police Commissioner adds that if the driver is unable to speak to the students, then others should voice their concerns.
