“The 7s structure in Fiji is not working.”
Those were the comments of IRB 7s leading commentator Nigel Starmer Smith as Fiji heads to Las Vegas after one of the worst performances in Wellington where we ended up in the bowl competition.
Smith added Fiji lacks consistency and the changing of players will do nothing to improve the performance of our national team as we are just months away from the Rugby World Cup.
Meanwhile, the Digicel Fiji 7s team has been drawn in a tough pool at the USA sevens this weekend.
Fiji is in pool A with Wellington 7s champions England, Scotland who beat us in pool play over the weekend and Portugal.
The national 7s side will kick off the Las Vegas tournament with England at 12pm Saturday.
Fiji will later face Scotland at 3.19pm and Portugal on Sunday at 8am.
Meanwhile, New Zealand leads the series standings with 77 points, followed by Kenya with 56 points then Samoa with 54 points.
Fiji, South Africa and France are in fourth place with 51 points.
