Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry has called on Ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase to stop misleading people by saying that an interim minister has been evading taxes and an investigation should be conducted.
As Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority Chairman, Filipe Bole announced last month that there are no tax evasion issues in relation to any interim minister, Chaudhry stressed that FIRCA has made its stand very clear.
However Laisenia Qarase has called on Chaudhry to resign if he cannot initiate investigations against the interim minister who has allegedly evaded taxes.
Qarase said the alleged tax evasion issue is serious and urgent steps should be taken by the interim administration.
