Stay alert as Flood and Heavy Rain warnings remain for Fiji

Rain to continue until Monday – Met Office

A flood warning is in force for flood-prone areas adjacent to and downstream of Ba River while a heavy rain warning remains in force for the Fiji Group.

A flood alert remains in force for flood-prone areas adjacent to and downstream of Nadi, Sabeto and Nawaka rivers.

A flash flood warning remains in force for all low-lying, flash flood-prone areas and small streams of Vanua Levu and parts of Viti Levu, including the greater Suva-Nausori area, Naitasiri Province, Tailevu through Rakiraki, Tavua, Ba, Lautoka and Nadi.

A flash flood alert remains in force for all low-lying, flash flood-prone areas and small streams for the rest of Fiji.

The Met Office says a trough of low pressure remains slow-moving over Fiji with an embedded shallow low-pressure system located just west of Kadavu.

They say the associated cloud and rain will continue to affect the country until Monday.

Meanwhile, floodwaters have started receding in Ba Town after heavy rain this morning caused parts of the town to be flooded.

The Ba Town Council says bus services are operating as normal, but the Ba Market remains closed until tomorrow.

They add that the shops in the town were not affected.
