Fiji Bank and Finance Sector Union general secretary Pramod Rae has stressed that the decision to withdraw from the Fiji Trade Union Congress is not political.
He said the it’s a decision by its executive committee. Rea said they have lost confidence in the Felix Anthony one of the workers representatives on the FNPF Board and they believe he does not represent workers any more.
He has also denied that they are considering joining Fiji Islands Council of Trades Union.
However, Felix Anthony told Village that Rea is diverting the attention from the real issues which face the workers of FNPF and is using the opportunity for his own gain.
Anthony said he is not willing to assist Rae in this fight as he believes that the workers are being misled.
However, Acting Interim Minister for Labour, Adi Laufitu Malani hopes that an amicable solution will soon be met after having separate meetings with the Fiji National Provident Fund Board and the workers Union yesterday.
Malani understands that Xmas is around the corner however she reassures the striking workers that before the festive season there should be a positive outcome.
Meanwhile 200 FNPF workers and union members began their strike on Thursday and are awaiting a positive response from the Fund.
