Some tourists opt to experience Cyclone Evan

Some tourists in the Yasawas have opted to stay in resorts and hotels to experience Tropical Cyclone Evan.

This is according to National Disaster Management Office Director Manasa Tagicakibau as their teams have been moving people and tourists to evacuation centers as people of Yasawa are now feeling the brunt of the Tropical Cyclone.

Tagicakibau said officials having been moving villagers since yesterday to evacuation centers and are finding it difficult to move some tourists.

In Mana Island:

More than 300 students from Australia who were hotel guests at Mana Island have been evacuated in the last few days to mainland.

Assistant General Manager, Sisa Matanisiga said that was the proactive approach taken by the Mana Island Resort and Spa executives for the safety of the guests.

Matanisiga said more than 200 staff members and their families are currently being transported to the mainland.
 
In Tokoriki:

Hotel guests at Tokoriki Island Resort in the Mamanucas have been advised to stay indoors.

Duty Manager Penioni Sale said there are more than 25 hotel guests at the resort and they have been advised that they can visit the hotel lobby as indoor activities are prepared for them.

Sale said the resort is secured with hurricane shutters and guests are kept safe.
