Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs Charan Jeath Singh says he is deeply concerned and saddened by the recent act of vandalism at the Samabula Shiv Temple

Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs Charan Jeath Singh says he is deeply concerned and saddened by the recent act of vandalism at the Samabula Shiv Temple, where sacred statues were damaged and prayer offerings destroyed.

He says such acts are not only criminal but also a direct attack on the values of respect, peace, and religious harmony that we hold dear as a nation.

Singh says our places of worship—of all faiths—must be protected and honoured.

The Minister says the Coalition Government strongly condemns this shameful act.

He says they are committed to safeguarding the religious and cultural rights of every Fijian, and will not tolerate any form of religious intolerance or hatred.

Singh is urging the authorities to investigate this matter thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice.

He has told the devotees and the broader community, that the Government stands with you.

The Minister says let us remain united and continue to promote mutual respect across all ethnic and religious lines.

He adds Fiji belongs to all of us, and together, we must preserve its spirit of unity and diversity.

Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested and is being questioned.
