Singh Gets 18 Years

Singh Gets 18 Years
Former journalist Raymond Singh has been sentenced to life imprisonment by High Court Judge Justice Daniel Gounder in the last hour.

Judge Gounder while handing down the sentence stressed that Singh is to serve no less than 18 years behind bars for the murder of his wife Wendy Linda Singh in May last year.

Judge Gounder stated that the extent and seriousness of the injuries on the deceased's body makes him conclude that the attack on her was ferocious.

He said the deceased received 79 bruises and wounds all over her body which according to the evidence required considerable impact and use of a weapon.

The Judge said the killing is further aggravated by the fact that Singh inflicted the injuries on the deceased in the presence of her children and that he has deprived four children of their mother.

On May 11th 2008, Singh had an argument with his wife at their Ragg Avenue home following which neighbours heard a cry for help and glass breaking inside the house.

Soon after Wendy's body was found inside the house in a pool of blood.
