Sports commentator, Satish Narain says he is over the moon to become the first Fijian to be the lead commentator at next weekend’s HSBC SVNS in Perth, Australia.

Speaking to fijivillage News today, Narain expressed his gratitude saying he feels lucky and fortunate to be given this opportunity, which he believes is a blessing only God could provide.

Narain acknowledged that Pacific Islanders are often overlooked for such appointments but emphasized that this milestone is significant for Fiji and the entire Pacific, expressing hope that it will pave the way for future Fijians aspiring to have a career in sports commentary.

He says being from the Pacific and from Fiji, he wants to make it count by opening doors, believing that if he performs well, it will create opportunities for others in the future.

He adds that with 35 years of experience commentating under Communications Fiji Limited, Fiji TV, and FBC, every day is a learning process.

He also acknowledges that he is not perfect, but like everyone else, he learns from his mistakes, picks himself up and keeps moving forward.

Narain says this mindset has helped him to grow and progress in his career.
