A number of resorts in the country which have undergone refurbishment due to the damage caused by last year’s Cyclone Evan are set to reopen soon.
Beachcomber Island Resort, which was closed for several months after a fire, is reopening on the 1st of next month while Treasure Island Resort is planning to reopen in December.
Tourism Fiji Chief Executive Officer Rick Hamilton said a lot of these island resorts just look brand new now.
The Westin Denarau Island Resort and Spa was closed until early this year, Castaway Island was closed until March, Likuliku Lagoon Resort was closed until April and Malolo Island reopened in August.
Bounty Island Resort reopened earlier this month.
Last year 660,000 international tourists visited Fiji, with more than half of them coming from Australia.
Research conducted on guests departing Fiji found people and culture were the experiences they remember more so than the beautiful beaches, coral reefs and waterfalls.
Hamilton said Fiji is completely different to places in Asia like Bali as it is safe, the experiences are good and the resorts are world class
