The 265 residents of Visama Village, Nakelo, Tailevu in Nausori, now have access to a better water supply after the completion of water pipe replacement works in their area.

Visama Village Headman Serupepeli Lomani says they are very grateful for the work carried out in order to maintain good supply of water in their village.

Lomani adds that with the installation of their new water pipes it has helped to solve a lot of difficulties which they were facing for the past years.

He says their daily chores are carried out smoothly and best of all their students are able to be on time to school as well.

Lomani says part of the work carried out included the upgrading of their main pipe, which supplies one of the most important basic needs to all individual households in the village.

Over the years, the residents have faced water disruptions due to the old pipeline frequently bursting or leaking.

This disrupted farming, the common means of livelihood, as well other daily activities in Visama.

The $80,065 water project, which was carried Water Authority of Fiji, saw the laying of approximately 320 metres of the pipeline as well as the installation of two fire hydrants.
