Rabbitohs star Mitchell suspended for 1 match and fined $20,000 over white substance photo

South Sydney Rabbitohs star Latrell Mitchell has received a one-game suspension and fined $20,000 over a leaked photo of him leaning over a white substance.

The club has additionally fined him $100,000 with $80,000 suspended pending any further breach of his playing contract or wellbeing program.

The NRL released a statement today confirming Mitchell’s punishment for an act which brought the game into disrepute.

In the statement, the NRL says they have made a final determination following an Integrity Unit investigation into the actions of Mitchell.

They say the suspension is to be served once Mitchell is fit and available to return from injury.

The 27-year-old hasn’t played since Round 18 due to a foot injury.

Meanwhile, round 26 of the NRL kicks off tonight awith the Cowboys hosting the Storm at 9.50.

In other matches of round 26, the Bulldogs will take on the Sea Eagles at 8pm Friday, the Panthers will battle the Rabbitohs at 10pm Friday, the Eels will host the Dragons at 5pm Saturday, the Dolphins will play the Broncos at 7.30pm Saturday, the Sharks will take on the Warriors at 9.35pm Saturday, the Knights will play the Titans at 4pm Sunday and the Roosters will take on the Raiders at 6.05pm Sunday.
