Ratu Kadavulevu School and Tailevu North College have retained their titles in the boys and girls division of the Coca Cola Tailevu Zone.

RKS won the boys division with 25 gold, 21 silver and 24 bronze.

Tailevu North College took out the girls title with 33 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze medals.

Ratu Kadavulevu School and Tailevu North College have retained their titles in the boys and girls division of the Coca Cola Tailevu Zone.

RKS won the boys division with 25 gold, 21 silver and 24 bronze.

Queen Victoria School came second with 21 gold, 22 silver and 17 bronze medals while Tailevu North College came third with 2 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals.

Tailevu North College took out the girls title with 33 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze medals.

Saint Vincent's College came second with 5 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze medals while Dawasamu Secondary School came third with 5 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze.

Meanwhile, Vani Lewatu of Tailevu North College took out the best female athlete after winning the senior girls 800 metres, 1500 metres and she was part of their 4x400 metres gold medal team.

Setoki Turuva of RKS won best male athlete after winning the senior boys 200 metres, 400 metres and anchored their 4x400 metres relay team to win gold.




Viliame Rawairua and Vani Tuinatewa win Senior 100 metres at Tailevu Zone

Viliame Rawairua of Ratu Kadavukevu School wins the senior boys 100m final at the Tailevu Zone

Viliame Rawairua of Ratu Kadavukevu School is the Coca-Cola Tailevu Zone Blue Ribbon Champion.

Rawairua clocked a manual time of 10.53 seconds.

Tomasi Seru of Queen Victoria School won silver with a time of 10.63 seconds while Netani Mawiriwiri of RKS claimed bronze with a time of 10.73 seconds.

Vani Tuinatewa of Tailevu North College won the Senior Girls 100 metres final with a time of 13.49 seconds.

Asenaca Moroca of Nayala High School took silver with a time of 14.15 seconds while Ateca Drugutanalevu won bronze with a time of 14.30 seconds.

Ratu Kadavulevu School are currently leading the boys medal tally at the Tailevu Zone with 6 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals while Queen Victoria School is in second place with 4 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals.

Tailevu North College leads the girls medal tally with 9 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medal, while Naiyala High School is in second place with 3 gold and 1 silver and Dawasamu Secondary is in third place with 2 gold medals 3 silver and 2 bronze medals.

TNC student overcome fears of hearing starting gun to win Sub-junior girls 1,500m

14-year-old, Arieta Mere of Tailevu North College had to overcome her fears of hearing the starting gun to win the 1,500-metre Sub-junior girls at the Coca-Cola Tailevu Zone.

She says her friends would laugh at her whenever she was startled at the start of her races during their school competition.

Mere says she used to run in the 400 and 800 metres, but her teachers had asked her if she can participate in the 1,500 metres.

She adds that she did not think she would win gold in the 1,500 metres.

The Tailevu North College student is thankful to her teachers and trainers for supporting her.

Meanwhile, Tailevu North College leads the girls medal tally with 5 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze, while Naiyala High School is in second place with 3 gold medals and Dawasamu Secondary is in third place with 2 gold medals.

In the boys' division, RKS leads with 5 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals while Queen Victoria School is in second place with 3 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals.

Aminiasi Tavailagi of RKS broke the sub junior boys long jump record with a new distance of 6.18 metres, breaking the old record of 5.43 metres set in 2014.

Mateo Vasuyawa of Wainibuka Secondary School won gold in the Intermediate Boys 1,500 metres, Waisale Tagivetaua of QVS won gold in the Junior boys 1,500 metres, Evueli Toia of Saint Vincent's High School won gold in the Senior boys 1,500 metres, Salaseini Vavatabua of Naiyala High School won the Junior girls 1,500 metres while Vani Lewatu of Tailevu North won the Senior girls 1,500 metres.

The competition continues today at the ANZ Stadium

Ratu Kadavulevu School are currently leading the boys medal tally at the Coca Cola Tailevu Zone with 4 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals while Queen Victoria School is in second place with 2 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals.

Tailevu North College leads the girls medal tally with 5 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medal, while Naiyala High School is in second place with 3 gold medals and Dawasamu Secondary is in third place with 2 gold medals.

Aminiasi Tavailagi of RKS broke the sub junior boys long jump record with a new distance of 6.18m breaking the old record of 5.43m set in 2014.

Meanwhile , Zone organisers have reminded those who are 18-years and above to provide their vaccination cards as that is a requirement to enter the ANZ Stadium.

Tailevu North College confident of a good outing at the Tailevu Zone

Tailevu North College are confident of retaining their girls title at the Coca Cola Tailevu Zone.

Speaking to LegendFM Sports, Team Manager Manasa Kaitabu says their preparations were disrupted from the uncertainty of the zone and Coca Cola games dates earlier this year but they carried on with their preparations.

Kaitabu says the inclusion of ACS in the Tailevu Zone comes as a blessing as they will be able gauge their performance against the best in secondary schools athletics.

Tailevu North College will be fielding a strong team of 120 athletes for the zone.

RKS are the defending champions in the boys division.

ACS confirms participation in Coca-Cola Tailevu Zone today and tomorrow

Defending Coca-Cola Games girls champions, Adi Cakobau School will be taking part in the Coca-Cola Tailevu Zone today.

Head Coach Antonio Raboiliku confirmed this to Fijivillage this morning and explains that when the officials from the Triple N Zone initially said there would be no meet, they approached the Tailevu Zone officials and were given the green light to participate.

He says it would have been unfair to pull out of the Tailevu Zone at the last minute adding that ACS will still defend their title when the Triple N Zone is held on the 2nd of August.

7 schools will battle for top honours in the Tailevu Zone at the ANZ Stadium today.

They are Ratu Kadavulevu School, Queen Victoria School, Tailevu North College, Wainibuka Secondary School, Dawasamu Secondary School, Saint Vincent College and Naiyala High School.

RKS and Tailevu North College are the defending champions in the boys and girls divisions respectively.

RKS have successfully defended their title since 2016 under the guidance of their current head coach and former national sprinter Moape Vu.

The Tailevu Zone will start at 12pm today.
