RFMF to stay the course from 2006
The Republic of Fiji Military Forces will not move from the course that it has taken from 2006 although Prime Minister and Army Commander, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama will resign as the Army Commander at the end of next week.

While speaking to the members of the RFMF and their families in Labasa, Commodore Bainimarama said there have been concerns raised that when he resigns as Army Commander some of the things will change.

He said he wants to assure everyone that the RFMF’s course will not change.

Meanwhile, Commodore Bainimarama said he told Australian Foreign Minister, Julie Bishop that it will be an added bonus if he wins the elections this year.

The Prime Minister told the members of the RFMF that nothing will change in the North as the RFMF will continue to do major projects in Bua, get the water tank in Kia and work on upgrading of the roads in Tawake.

Commodore Bainimarama said the RFMF has received praises from the United Nations Secretary General as well as the Secretary for Peacekeeping for Fiji’s quick action to serve in the Golan Heights.

He highlighted that there are major plans coming up for the RFMF.

The Army Commander said 1000 Territorial Forces soldiers will be sent for peace keeping duties every year.

500 will go for peace keeping duties in the Middle East and the other 500 will go in as replacements for regulars in the Middle East.
