Qarase accepts he’s Former PM - McCoy

The lawyer for Bainimarama and others, McCoy maintained to Qarase that it was not a letter of enquiry but a letter to confirm his decision that he had accepted that he was the Former PM.

Qarase maintained that he is still the constitutional Prime Minister of Fiji and has not resigned. He also said that he later told himself that he cannot get a pension because he has not resigned.

McCoy then told Qarase that the ink was hardly dry when he put his hand up for money from the Bainimarama government and how he can be Prime Minister and Former Prime Minister of the country at the same time.

McCoy also pointed out that 21 members of Qarase's cabinet have applied for pension and are now receiving them. Qarase said he just found that out through the media.

McCoy stressed Qarase, through his actions had admitted that he was now a former Prime Minister. But Qarase maintained that he is the constitutional Prime Minister since May 2006.

Meanwhile, the Home Affairs Minister in the Qarase government Josefa Vosanibola will take the witness stand before presiding judges, Justice Anthony Gates, Justice Davendra Pathik and Justice John Byrne at 9:30 this morning.
