Police/Military left in the Dark

The Fiji Military Forces and the Police remain in the dark where the directive to stop five soldiers and a police officer, implicated in the death's of Nimilote Verebasaga and Sakiusa Rabaka from leaving the country came from.

When contacted by Village FM news, Army Spokesperson Lt Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga only said the soldiers have not been charged, and unless they are charged they can still be sent on missions abroad.

Police Commission Commodore Esala Teleni told Village FM News this morning that he expects a full briefing on the Rabaka and Verebasaga's murder cases and on what happened at the Airport today.

And Divisional Crime Officer Western Waisea Kadawa, who is currently on leave, has denied reports in one of the dailies this morning that he issued the directive that these soldiers be stopped from leaving.

It has been confirmed that 5 soldiers and a police officer implicated in the cases that stopped at the Nadi International Airport yesterday after being assigned to overseas missions.

The soldiers were part of the contingent of 216 bound for Iraq last Friday led by Major Eroni Bale for UN Peacekeeping.

The Immigration Department and DPP's Office is expected to comment later today.
