Police verifying 9 cyber bullying complaints against TikTokers received by Human Rights Commission

Police say their team is in the process of verifying the nine complaints received by the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission against a group of TikTokers before they can start with investigation.

The Commission says they have received complaints against a group of TikTokers including a former Fijian citizen for allegedly bullying and harassing women and children on Tiktok.

They say they are working closely with the Cyber Crimes Unit to bring the perpetrators to face the full brunt of the law.

The Commission say complaints range from TikTokers posting material on TikTok with the intention to hurt a woman’s modesty, exposing children on social media platforms and for breach of privacy rights.

In one case, a local TikToker is alleged to have taken pictures of a child while this particular child was waiting with her parents inside a police station to file a complaint and then exposed the child on Tiktok.

In another case, a woman was allegedly asked by a TikToker to use her 8-year-old child as a sex worker.
