Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni has confirmed that Naitasiri High Chief Ratu Inoke Takiveikata and businessman Ballu Khan are being questioned in relation to an alleged plot to assassinate Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama, some members of the Interim Government and some senior military officers.
At a press conference this morning, Commodore Teleni confirmed that the Fiji Police, through the assistance of certain government agencies have been monitoring the movements of various people believed to be involved in the plot.
Commodore Teleni also said the use of arms and explosives was imminent in the plot.
The Police Commissioner also confirms that some neighbouring governments may be involved in providing financial support to the course of those planning to carry out the assassinations.

Commodore Teleni stresses that the police and military actions were necessary to avoid instability and their effort is a deterrent and to interrupt the plan and cycle before reaching maturity.
He has assured the people of Fiji, that the current situation is well under control and the security forces, the Police and the Military will ensure that the safety and security of the people of the nation will remain paramount.
Village News has received confirmation that other people allegedly involved in the assassination plot will be rounded up soon.
Ratu Inoke Takiveikata and Ballu Khan are still remanded in custody at the Central Police Station in Suva. Security is tight around the Central Police Station with the road leading to the station cordoned off.
Khan who was admitted at the Suva Private Hospital after his arrest was taken back to the police station this morning. Both men remain in custody as I speak.
