Police trying to determine if it was parental negligence after 4-year-old girl was found wandering alone

Was it parental negligence?

Police are trying to determine that after a 4-year-old girl was found wandering alone along Princes Road in Suva yesterday afternoon.

The young girl was found by some Police officers and was taken to the Samabula Police Station.

An urgent announcement was then aired and her photo was published on our website, fijivillage.com and facebook page, fijivillage.

Fijivillage has received information that the father of the young girl then went to Samabula Police and picked up his daughter.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro says they will be liaising with the Social Welfare Ministry regarding this case as their investigations continue as to why the child was wandering alone.

Naisoro says they are also checking on alleged parental negligence and will make further decisions after the investigations.
