The Fiji Police Force Fraud Investigation Unit has received numerous reports of M-PAiSA accounts being hacked by unknown persons in the past few months.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa says people being targeted are at the grass root level and are individuals who work hard for their living but are not familiar with today's modern technologies.

He says as the Government has today rolled out its first batch of $200 government grant for school assistance this year, please be cautious of dealings over social media platforms and avoid sending money to people selling online.

ACP Waqa says due to the increase in scam, people are being urged to first check the status of their account.

He says some M-PAiSA account are suspended or are on hold due to the recent increase in M-PAiSA scams.

ACP Waqa says avoid the sharing of pin numbers and change your M-PAiSA pin number every once in a while.

He is advising people to contact their nearest Vodafone outlet to verify their accounts.
