A police officer has tragically passed away on Friday night, just hours after graduating from a four-week Superintendent Course.

Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu shared the news today, expressing his condolences and reflecting on the importance of leadership within the Force.

No further details have been released regarding the officer’s passing.

Meanwhile, the Superintendent Course is designed for officers in leadership roles, brought together senior police personnel from across the country to strengthen leadership capabilities and professional standards within the organisation.

Tudravu emphasised the critical need for strong, principled leadership in the Force.

He says he needs leaders who can lead, not be led.

He further stressed that officers must understand the value of the rank they hold and recognise the boundaries of their authority.

Tudravu further says that leadership lines have unfortunately become blurred and it is time to redefine them with clarity, decisiveness and respect.

The Commissioner also highlighted new opportunities for the Force, especially for younger officers gaining exposure through regional and international platforms.
