Police are monitoring homeless people at the Suva Bus Stand under the Loloma Operation
Suva Bus Stand today.

The only people seen in Suva City today apart from police and security guards are the homeless that are sitting and sleeping at the Suva Bus Stand.

When questioned by fijivillage on what are police doing to ensure that these people are not breaching the lockdown guidelines, police say they are aware and are also monitoring these people under their Loloma Operation in collaboration with the Health Ministry and Suva City Council.

Police say these homeless people are fed under the Loloma Operation and also by some of the religious organisations.

There is also a heavy police presence on the roads in the Suva lockdown area.

Police are patrolling in many residential and city areas with no one else seen walking around.

We saw police trucks and four-wheel drive vehicles around the Suva City area and in other places like Nabua, Toorak, Raiwaqa and Samabula.

We have also seen checkpoints that are normally erected during curfew hours that are still in some areas like Brown Street in Toorak and Jittu Estate in Raiwaqa.

Police spokesperson Savaira Gonedua says this is part of their normal patrolling during this lockdown.
