The Interim Attorney General has today stated that it is the Fiji Police Force's prerogative on whether they want to go ahead with the treason investigation against the Interim Prime Minister, members of the interim government and the military council.
However Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the interim administration believes that everyone should just wait for the court ruling in the case between Qarase and Bainimarama, as all the issues in relation to the December 5th takeover will be addressed in the case.
Sayed-Khaiyum also said that the treason complaint lodged against the Interim PM and others by some ousted members of the SDL almost two years after the takeover, is a stunt and a gimmick.
He also believes that the action is being taken to try to cause instability in the country.
He said organisations like the Fiji Human Rights Commission have a point of view that the treason complaint should be investigated while the interim government has a different point of view. He said they stand by their point of view.
