Investigations into the fire that claimed the life of a five year old and his mother in Nausori on Monday night reveal that those trying to call the fire brigade were dialling the wrong number.
NFA Chief Executive Officer, Jone Koroi said it is a concern that some people are still not aware of the number to call for fire services which leads to the loss of valuable minutes in emergency response time.
Koroi said in an event of fire people should immediately alert the fire brigade by calling 911.
This number is also for those who want emergency ambulance service and road accident rescue services.
Six people including three children have lost their lives due to fire this year alone.
