Former Tavua College student Yeshnil Karan has proved he is the Pacific long-distance king after winning gold in the 5,000 metres and also defeating 2019 Pacific Games champion Benjamin Zorgotti.

22 year old Karan was dominant in his race after winning gold in the 10,000 metres on Monday.

Zorgnotti put the pressure on Karan throughout the race, but Karan managed to calculate his run impressively.

He showed his pace in the last lap leaving Zorgnotti to settle for silver.

Team Fiji currently sits in 5th place with 14 gold, 18 silver and 18 bronze.

New Caledonia is leading with 67 gold, 41 silver and 42 bronze, while Australia is in second place with 37 gold, 20 silver and 8 bronze.
