The Team Fiji Men’s and Women’s hockey teams have both won gold at the Pacific Games this afternoon.

The women’s side beat Solomon Islands 2-nil in the final.

The two sides were tied nil-all at half time.

The Hector Smith coached side had demolished PNG 3-0 in their semi final yesterday.

The Fiji Men’s Hockey side edged PNG 3-2 to secure the gold this afternoon.

Both sides were locked nil-all at full time so the winner was decided on a penalty shootout with Fiji eventually coming out on top.

They had come through the pool stages unbeaten before meeting PNG in their semi final yesterday which they eventually won 1-0 after another penalty shootout.

Fiji is in fifth place with 18 gold, 25 silver and 30 bronze.

New Caledonia is leading with 72 gold, 51 silver and 50 bronze while Tahiti is second with 46 gold, 47 silver and 47 bronze medals.
