Oscars 2020: 12 things to watch out for today Academy Awards

Some of the movie world's biggest stars will be walking the red carpet at this year's Oscars in Los Angeles later today.

Joker leads the pack with 11 nominations, followed by The Irishman, 1917 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with 10 each.

The nominees for Best Picture are Ford v Ferrari, The Irishman,  Jojo Rabbit, Joker, Little Women, Marriage Story, 1917, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Parasite.

The nominees for Actress in a Leading Role are Cynthia Erivo for Harriet, Scarlett Johansson for Marriage Story, Saoirse (Sur-Sha) Ronan for Little Women, Charlize Theron for Bombshell and Renee Zellweger for Judy.

The nominees for Best Actor in a Leading Role are Antonio Banderas for Pain and Glory, Leonardo DiCaprio for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Adam Driver for Marriage Story, Joaquin Phoenix for Joker and Jonathan Pryce for The Two Popes.

Brad Pitt, Renee Zellweger, Joaquin Phoenix and Laura Dern are among those tipped to win acting awards.

1917 and South Korea's Parasite are the frontrunners to be named Best Picture.

The Academy Awards will start at 1pm today.
