OHS Dept to investigate death
The OHS Department of the Labour Ministry will carry out an investigation next Monday regarding the death of 37 year old Epeli Gadi yesterday in Namoli, Lautoka.

Western Divisional Labour Officer Mateo Daurewa told Fijivillage that all workers at the site will be interviewed next Monday to determine what transpired which led to a 10 metre concrete pole weighing 35 tonnes fall on Gadi, killing him.

Daurewa said after investigations, the OHS department will determine the compensation claim to be paid to Gadi's immediate family.

Gadi's older brother Joeli Qio said it was completely unexpected and when they received the call from the hospital they were all in shock and still are as it was only yesterday that Gadi was with them.

Qio said Gadi had just gotten married two years ago and was enjoying life.

Police investigations into the matter also continue.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Police Force is investigating the incident involving a 37yr old man of Lautoka who was crushed under a 35 tonne concrete pole yesterday morning.

Police have at the same time called on people to be cautious while working at their job sites especially if they are working at places involving high buildings as well as heavy machinery.
