No regrets for Singh after giving up mechanical job to start business to support his family
Avishay Shahil Singh

Giving up his mechanical job and starting his own business to support his family after his father was bedridden in 2016 was something Avishay Shahil Singh never regretted.

The owner of Shahil's Party Ice and Frozen Supplies says his business won the Fiji Development Bank’s SME award under the agriculture category earlier this year and it was a great achievement.

He says this achievement gave him the confidence to do better for his family.

The 26-year-old says he approached the new venture with determination and willingness to learn, through which he expanded his business to frozen cassava, dalo and cassava chips that are available in major supermarkets.

He further says that some farmers from Naitasiri had no place to sell their produce and he decided to purchase from them so that they could also earn for their families.

Singh adds he also received a business support grant from Business Link Pacific and Business Assistance Fiji which he will use to purchase a slice cutter and biogas plant.

He also acknowledged them for investing in small businesses that contribute to the economy.

Singh has encouraged youths not to step back but to come up with business ideas to flourish and is asking them not to be afraid of failure.
