No one to be charged in gun and ammunition seizure case as DPP finds insufficient evidence

No one will be charged in relation to the seizure of arms and ammunition that was seized from a vessel in Viti Levu waters during a joint operation by Police, Fiji Revenue and Customs Service and the Fiji Navy in March this year.

Police say the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has returned the investigation file.

They say after reviewing the Police investigation file, the Acting Director of Public Prosecutions says there is insufficient evidence to propose any charge against the individuals.

Police say the case will be filed, and no further action will be pursued.

Meanwhile, one gun and 600 ammunition were seized through a joint operation by Police, Fiji Revenue and Customs Service and Fiji Navy on a vessel in Viti Levu waters on the 18th of March this year.

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu also clarified that drugs were not found in the vessel.
