The issuance of new Fiji passports are likely to begin from the 21st of this month.
17,500 Fiji passports are expected to leave for Fiji next Monday according to United Kingdom suppliers, De La Rue.
Fiji Immigration Director, Major Nemani Vuniwaqa said plans are already underway for staff to work overtime in anticipation of the arrival and issuing of the passports.
More than 1,000 passports are expected to be issued in a week.
At present more than 7,000 passport applications are waiting to be processed in Suva alone.
