NZ Defence Force joins search for missing passenger ferry in Kiribati

The New Zealand Defence Force has now joined the search for a passenger ferry with more than 50 people on board that has been missing in Kiribati for a week.

Local authorities began searching for the vessel after it failed to arrive on 20 January as scheduled.

The Royal New Zealand Air Force Orion aircraft is helping in the search.
